Food for Thought

My sister-n-law sent this to me the other day. I wanted to share it with you.

If we are deeply moved by the sight of his love for us, it detaches our hearts from other would-be saviors. We stop trying to redeem ourselves through our pursuits and relationships, because we are already redeemed. We stop trying to make others into saviors, because we have a Savior.

Christmas is pretty slow for the Women in the Church at least from a church responsibility perspective. I hope that you are finding time to slow down and enjoy the holidays.

POWER VERSES

I found this devotion at ESV.org. This devotion contains several power verses.

Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

“I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours. All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them. . . . I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.”

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.”—“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.”—“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.”

He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.—Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word.

John 13:1; John 17:9, 10, 15, 16; John 15:9; John 15:13, 14; John 13:34; Phil. 1:6; Eph. 5:25, 26

Gearing up for Christmas

Ladies,

There isn't a lot to announce this week. I know; however, that there is a LOT going on preparing for Christmas.

Our power verse for this week is Psalm 46:10:

10 “Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”

During this crazy time of parties, presents, shopping and closing up the year; let's be mindful of the reason we celebrate Christmas. Take time to "Be still".

Be sure to check your church newsletter for the church events coming up.

Be blessed!

November 25

Ladies,

I hope you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Next Monday, November 30, we'll resume our regular Bible Study. We will be discussing Chapter 8. There will be no Bible study during the month of December.

Please pick up your cookbooks. At this point, you may purchase as many as you like!

And now, I am going to leave you with a few Bible verses on thankfulness.

Blessings.

Weekly Update

Dearest Ladies,

So I don't know about you, but I have already made three recipes from the Women in the Church cookbook. I made Caitlin's Super Sugar Cookies (pictured above), Gwen's Tomato Soup and Amy's Saloon Beef. Thank you ladies for submitting such delicious recipes. My time in the kitchen was enjoyable, and of course, the end result was delicious. If you don't already have your cookbook, pick one up. They are in the foyer. $5 each.

This Monday at 10am, the WIC will be decorating for Christmas. Please come and help out if you have the time. Childcare is provided.

Have you all had the opportunity to read Sarah Young's, Jesus Calling??? If not, here is a clip from her first book. It is very encouraging. *I even noticed that a copy of it is in the church library*. You can also pick it up at Lifeway, Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble. Anyway, let's reflect on her January 6 entry. Be sure to dig into the scriptures listed at the end.

We have a blog!

Dearest Ladies,

I have created a blog for the Women in the Church. This will allow us to all see and comment on the upcoming things in the Women's Ministry. Beginning next week, I will be using this format for updating you on upcoming events! I'll continue to send an e-mail with the site address weekly!

See you guys tonight!

Lisa
